Getting the Best Out of Your Team
Hi there,
Getting the best out of your team is not about having all the answers yourself. It is about giving your people the right training, support and confidence to handle what comes their way.
Whether it is helping a new supervisor develop their leadership skills, giving staff practical strategies to manage challenging situations, or making sure your team is confident in their RSA responsibilities, the approach you take to developing your people makes a difference.

What makes an effective leader
Promoting your strongest operator into a supervisor role is the most natural decision in hospitality, and it's the one that catches venues out most often. Running a section brilliantly and leading the people who run it are different jobs that call on different skills.
The ones that matter are learnable. Reading a room, and getting to a problem while it's still small instead of hoping it sorts itself out.

Protecting your people
Psychosocial hazards now sit alongside physical ones in your WHS obligations, and hospitality carries plenty of them. Late nights and the constant pressure at the pass, for a start.
Two halves to getting it right. The venue manages the hazards it can control, and your team builds the skills to handle the pressure that's left. Resilience gets treated like a personality trait, but it's trainable, and it holds up better when it's taught before it's needed.

Training that works on the floor
The silly season will be here before we know it. If your venue has not completed an RSA Refresher recently, now is a great time to get your team together before the busy Christmas period.
Patty delivers a 2 hour workshop with a strong focus on role plays, harm minimisation strategies and how staff can confidently put their RSA responsibilities into practice on shift. Patty encourages conversations with your team to troubleshoot situations, role play their responses and discuss practical strategies they can actually use at work.
Regular refresher training helps staff and managers keep their knowledge current and recognise risks. The best time to strengthen your team's harm minimisation practices is before a challenging situation occurs, not after. Interested? Give us a call or send an email to discuss and schedule in the training.

Zero-alcohol drinks and minors
Nothing has changed in the legislation here, which is exactly why it catches staff out. A minor holding something that looks like a beer sits in a genuine grey area, and your team will get asked about it.
Worth settling your house position and making sure the floor knows it, so nobody has to improvise in front of a patron.

One membership. Your whole team. No per-head costs.
Every course above is included in the Training Partner Program, along with the compliance training you're already running. Unlimited staff accounts on one renewal, and a dashboard in ZAC that tells you where everyone's up to.
That last part is the one managers tell us they actually wanted. When something goes wrong, the records are in one place instead of spread across a spreadsheet and somebody's inbox.
